Hackers breached U.N. computer networks earlier this year
- perihelions 5y ago"International organizations like the U.N. pose high-value targets for cyberespionage and draw the interest of many foreign state actors," Also, domestic state actors. Weird framing by the WaPo there -- how do you even qualify "foreign" in this context, the UN isn't a part of the USA? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spying_on_the_United_Nations https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spying_on_the_United_Nations >"In one notable incident, the US and other Western countries were found to be spying on the UN in March 2003, in the run-up to the Iraq War,[2] and actual bugging devices were found inside the UN.[3][4][5] In 2010, WikiLeaks revealed that US diplomats had been spying on UN leaders. On 25 August 2013, Der Spiegel revealed US National Security Agency secretly monitored the U.N.'s internal video conferencing system by decrypting during 2012.[6]" previously: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=6271259 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=6271259 ("NSA hacked into encrypted UN communications, leaked documents show")

- Proven 5y agoLet's state the main problem: the UN serve no good purpose. Elected government officials can't do the job they're hired to do, and these unelected, useless eaters are much worse. The US should simply leave the UN. That would also solve the concern about spying (on the US delegation, or any country that does the same) and cost us nothing.
