Light AI – Replace 500 low-code tools with one line of code
- jordantplows 5y agoHey HN, Today we are launching Light AI. You can think of Light AI like AWS for low-code. Today there are so many tools you can choose from when building a low-code app. However these combination of tools are prone to security, performance and reliability issues. We have condensed most, but not all, of these tools into a single API. We are focused on improving performance, reducing technical debt and making it very simple to stack up backend architecture and cloud services in minutes with a single line of code. You create a website that uses "Light Auth" to log in (so like Auth0), stores data in "Light Table" (so like Firebase), and uses AirTable integration to send it out. But then I saw the pricing -- $0.50 per request, 100 requests/month -- and I am not sure anymore. Obviously no one is going to pay $0.50 to handle user login, or to do a database query, or to post some data to Airtable. So this startup is not a service provider... but then what is it? And then I noticed there are "Light Code" to generate code, and "Light Backspace" to fix syntax errors... and "Light Table" mentions "Generates tables and queries"... So maybe Light AI thing generates the code, like a Github CoPilot -- and then you are paying $0.50 for each database query that their service writes for you? In this case it is pretty expensive, but at least somewhat makes sense... but then where is the list of supported technologies? Does generated code support Firebase? Postgres? DynamoDB? Something else? And then I've noticed there are no actual docs of that API, and the list of "500 integration" is hosted on by Notion and contains only 6 website names. And numerous spelling errors. I am going to guess the company actually has no working product and has no finished designs for the product either -- just a vague idea of "AWS for low-code with AI". Not sure why they would do the launch in this state, they just come off unprofessional and uninteresting.
