- GDC7 5y agoIt's not about the numbers as much as it is about the state of mind of those who read them. People are extremely scared about everything nowadays. There have been thousands of COVID like viruses in the history of civiliaztion and they aren't even recorded because it's a rounding error in the metric that matters the most but that nobody wants to use: Months trimmed off the life expectancy of the deceased (ex-COVID)
- lnxg33k1 5y agoI don't agree with you, as italian we read for example in school a story I think is also famous in other parts of the world, "I promessi sposi" like it's translated as https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Betrothed_(Manzoni_novel) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Betrothed_(Manzoni_novel), and there are described at a certain point confinements for the plague, also I've read about confined city for epidemics of smallpox, so I don't think it is about modern society, I think it's more about the numbers and death rate of disease..
- denton-scratch 5y ago> Months trimmed off the life expectancy of the deceased (ex-COVID) Huh? Isn't the life-expectancy of the deceased zero?
