- kongin 5y agoThat is a wildly misleading statistic. The divorce rate isn't 2.7 per 1000 marriages, which is what I assumed before clicking on the source, it's 2.7 per 1000 people in the population. The marriage rate is 6.1 per 1,000 total population, divide one by the other and you find the proportion of marriages that end in divorce: 44%.
