This article is pretty short, but I think there is one elephant I haven't seen discussed, the retirement of boomers as COVID has discouraged them from the workplace. This opened up slots for upward mobility for gen-xers and older millennials, and for folks in low paid sectors a chance at a new higher paying job. This would impact availability of low skill service workers who now have a better job, and with the dropping fertility rate this may be related to a general population shift/decline.
I'll wait on stats, but I keep hearing about city/state workers retiring en masse, and stories of folks deciding to retire because it doesn't make sense to them to keep working.
