Ask HN: How do you keep track of your routines and habits?
- chelmzy 5y agoLoop Habit Tracker. https://loophabits.org/ https://loophabits.org/
- SlyShy 5y agoUsing https://autopilot.ooo https://autopilot.ooo I’ve automated myself in both my morning and evening routines. I noticed I have exceptionally poor executive functioning in the morning, but now I don’t have to think at all for the first hour that I’m awake, I just follow my pre-programmed instructions written for me by my benevolent higher-functioning awake self in the past. Thanks me!
- bckygldstn 5y agoI use a google doc that basically looks like github's commit squares: https://www.ajnisbet.com/blog/tracking-goals https://www.ajnisbet.com/blog/tracking-goals Some advantages of this over the various apps I've tried: * Free * No ads * Synchronised web + mobile apps * No demoralising penalties for breaking a streak * At a glance you can see both recent usage (which is most relevant) and long term usage (which is really motivating)
- tyroh 5y agowould you mind sharing your template? This is such a great idea btw.
- davchana 5y agoI too use a simple excel sheet with days 1-31 on top row, & mm-yy on first column. Each habit either has a scale of 1 to 5; or has something like X for done, v for half done, o for not done etc. A conditional formatting either gradient colors the squares, or colors them good or bad colors. Columns after 31 keep count of each value in this month. Some summary tables use sumproduct to pull some trends.
- skydhash 5y agoStreak. It was cheap and a one time purchase and I quite like the design. I also use Things for specific and granular tasks.
