Show HN: Compare inflation rates across 400 types of items
- typpo 5y agoOP here. I scraped the components of CPI from the Bureau of Labor Statistics website and built a chart to go along with it. I thought starting everything at 0% and charting cumulative inflation was an interesting visualization, as it helps to demonstrate compounding effects and why certain sectors have seen massive price increases. Aside from obvious points of interests like housing and medical care, check out "Used cars and trucks" and the noticeable spike caused by the pandemic.
