One of the primary functions of art is to get people to question or examine their assumptions and understanding of the world, including questioning the dominant power structures. Here, and now, the dominant power structure is capitalism. So it makes sense, given the circumstances. Jingoistic art that upholds and celebrates power is usually pretty awful.
