- westcort 5y agoGood idea!
- enriquto 5y agoNot necessarily. Some people actively abhor such dopamine dispensers.
- SomeBoolshit 5y agoPeople hate listening to music they like?
- Retric 5y agoSome people really prefer novelty. Try listening to say WFMU for a while, you might hate it but it’s likely to hold your attention in ways personalized streaming doesn’t.
- tgv 5y agoThis. The like button all too often acts like the "echo chamber": you're going to go around in circles. Writing a good recommendation system is very hard, and it gets harder as the number of users grows (because primitive algorithms will get more and more certain of their predictions, and diverge less and less from the favorites). Anyway, the service is called loc "serendipity".
- enriquto 5y agoI'm talking about the like button and other "social" stuff.
- Cederfjard 5y agoI think the idea of the response you got was that such features might ostensibly aid in discoverability.
- fsflover 5y agoNobody should force "most liked" music on you, but it's a nice option.
- westcort 5y agoAs a compromise to this, I added a features where you can add a search string to the URL and the player will only play songs that that search string in the URL. For example, this only plays Jazz: https://locserendipity.com/PushPlay.html?q=jazz- https://locserendipity.com/PushPlay.html?q=jazz-
