Apple Event on Sept 14 – “California streaming”
- auslegung 5y agoThis link seems to have been the first posted to HN https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=28446620 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=28446620
- MR4D 5y agoI'm presuming since that one is to twitter instead of Apple, that this one gets preference as source.
- rock_artist 5y agoAnyone understands why this uses developer subdomain? While this is HN the event I guess is also for non-developer audience.
- codetrotter 5y agoHow do you know? Could be a developer-centric stream, couldn’t it?
- carnitine 5y agoNo, because it’s advertised on the main Apple homepage.
- codetrotter 5y agoOh, wasn’t aware of that.
- carnitine 5y agoThat must just be how the particular HN submitter found it. It’s advertised on the Apple homepage with a link to a non-developer events page.
- nickvanw 5y agoI'm curious to see what features the next iPhone comes with -- if it's limited to things like screen refresh rates and 'better' 5G (with Qualcomm's X60) it won't be a super compelling update to people with iPhone 12s, but would be huge for anyone with an 11 or prior. I hope it's not just stuff like a better camera for taking pictures of the sky and some 120Hz refresh rates. With the imminent (beginning of 2022) release of C-Band in the USA, anyone who upgrades every two years would benefit hugely from a phone that supports n77/n78 (as well as n48 when CBRS goes 5G). I wouldn't be surprised to see the Verizon CEO out there to talk about this, and a big push to get them in peoples' hands to alleviate network strain by having more phones capable of using more frequency. Beyond that, I have high hopes for a 13"/14" M1/M2 MBP refresh, which would instantly become my next personal laptop. With Apple's focus on Services revenue, I'm also quite curious to see what'll get launched this year.
- codetrotter 5y agoI’m using an iPhone X still, and looking to upgrade soon. But I don’t think ground breaking improvements are necessary every new model. My previous phone prior to this one was an iPhone 7 Plus. And before that I had a dumb phone paired with an iPod touch. Prior to that some random Android phone.
- ziml77 5y agoI'm guessing I'll be waiting until next year, but I'm hoping that they'll announce a new 16" MBP that runs on an M1 successor. As nice as portability is, I love the screen space of 15-16" laptops.
- orloffm 5y agoI'll buy one only if it gets higher PWM frequencies.
