What an incredibly bad deal.
The required 12 months of webhosting is £2.99/mo now bill £35.88 Excl. VAT
Then the 'Review and Complete' page bills for my choice from the landing page of 'roodhen.com' which a whois shows is unregistered anyway, listed as £12.99 Excl. VAT, 'domain privacy' is £9.00/year Excl. VAT (listed as Regular: £18.00/year - which I think is illegal as 'discounted' prices must be listed at regular price a good amount of the majority of the time IIRC, at least UK), plus VAT on all of that is £11.58, leading to a grand total of £69.45.
What a scam. An equivalent offer with Dreamhost would be almost half that, and I'm sure there's cheaper still.
- vincent_s 5y agoYou don't have to take that deal. You are free to register those domains at Dreamhost or anywhere else.
- zhte415 5y agoNice names I like. Not to discount that at all. The ones on the landing page are quite catchy. But the.. > £12.99 Excl. VAT ..doesn't seem that free.
- vincent_s 5y agoYou don't have to pay me anything to use those domains. However, to use a .com domain name you need to go through a registrar who will charge you a yearly fee. You can read more about registering domain names at ICANN [1].
