I think consumers who care about upgrades are mostly aware that their iPhone will be supported 5 to 6 years, the low end android perhaps one or two year, and expensive androids perhaps 2 to 3 years. This market exists for more than a decade now, people have had the time to see how it works and how makers behave. It will be nice to always have official commitments (some makers already commit to timelines), but I don’t expect them to be different from the effective support time we already have.
