A summary of some of the points in the article: - Carrd has 2 million users (paid and unpaid) and $1 million in ARR (annual recurring revenue). - "AJ" is the sole developer of Carrd (the company is himself, his business partner Donny, and a few contractors). - The scope of Carrd has been intentionally limited from the beginning (a one-page site builder). That simplicity is its appeal. - Carrd was beginning to be noticed by the VC world and it’s been beneficial for Carrd to take on investors. - Investors have helped with networking, connections, knowledge and mentorship. - One investor put him in touch directly with an engineering team at AWS (Amazon Web Services) to walk him through infrastructure planning and deployment. - The preconceived notions AJ had about the “evils of VC” have been unfounded.
