Ask HN: Can you get a developer job in Silicon Valley without a degree?
Is this easy to do or difficult? Are there lots of companies that hire self-taught developers?
What are some things you can do to try to get an interview? Can you get a job if you do well in the coding interview without a degree?
- mardiyah 5y agoOf course, out of question. Put it simple, anyone active helping out someone else via computer, programming, electronic discussion and/or forum web site would quickly get mailed remote jobs offer, mostly from that U.S. area even if just do Quora answering as what I did have & experience
- garmaine 5y agoDepends on the job. Google? You might have trouble getting past the HR screen. Random YC startup? I doubt they’d even care so long as you’re bringing by something g of value to the table. Brush up your GitHub resume.
- andyxor 5y agoapply to any startup on AngelList or YC network, most of them don't care about your degree as long as you can code and nice to work with
