Do they though? As I understand it the PCR tests aren’t designed to distinguish between variants. We run more intensive sequencing assays on some subset of patients to assess in a statistical way the spread and emergence of variants. This would be prohibitively expensive and time consuming to run for everyone with a positive PCR result
