- Hjfrf 5y agoIt's mixed. Ethereum is gpu, bitcoin is ASICs, monero is cpu for example. Heavy overlap in raw materials and supply chain regardless.
- Fordec 5y agoGPUs are made from silicon. Other chips are also made from silicon. Manufacturers will use said silicon to make whatever chips make them the most money per manufacturing run. Which, right now, is GPUs.
- sneak 5y agoThis is not remotely the basis for the shortage. It is the basis for the high price of GPUs. There are massive shortages at all process node sizes AIUI, not just the cutting edge.
