The catch is that while you can get plates and insurance for your Kei Car (or truck) you will never get a dime of coverage in a collision. Kei Cars are dirt cheap, but they are throw-away vehicles, so to speak. Service? Lots of Asian-owned garages in the Vancouver area mean there are plenty of mechanics with Kei Car experience. Parts? Good luck with that. Travel? Very local, and don't even bother trying to cross the U.S. border with one.
