IMO it's closer with the blitzchung and nba controversy with china lately. They have possibility of losing other customers when they didn't do this. Furthermore I believe GoDaddy has already assessed the potential loss, made customer comparison between both parties and concluded this is better financially. EDIT: additionally, they may also compared the hosting plan with the spam attacks and PR attacks they get. Personally and morally I don't know whether this is the right thing or not, but financially I believe this is.
