CDC Finds over 83 Percent of Americans Had Covid Antibodies Before Delta Surge
- legobmw99 5y ago> “Data from blood donations show Americans w/ COVID-19 antibodies increased from 20.5% to 83.3% after the rollout of #COVID19 vaccines.” At first read it seems like the headline may be trying to suggest that the vaccine was unnecessary, but in fact the opposite is found in the body
- rogerkirkness 5y agoYeah, you'd still need 10% more to get the R0 under 1.
- chaimanmeow 5y agoright now the delta wave in the US is peaking with a hospitalization rate of [4 in 10,000](https://carlsonschool.umn.edu/mili-misrc-covid19-tracking-project https://carlsonschool.umn.edu/mili-misrc-covid19-tracking-pr...). Active SARS2 cases are listed as a bit under 9 million (or roughly 1 in 111 --- see https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/#countries https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/#countries . So for someone diagnosed with the SARS2, the risk of hospitalization for the average american (of average health and demographics) is 4.4% (roughly 1 in every 22.5 people). The risk of hospitalization for an avg american that is healthy and maintains a healthy level of vitamin D will be orders of magnitude lower---this is extrapolated and hypothetical, by considering that 80% are deficient in D and other immune nutrients, and also about 80% are overweight (a stunning 42.4% of the US population is obese).
