More info about Kanye West's stem player. Music stems on blockhain for remixes
- thinkingemote 5y agoIm quite puzzled about how the blockchain figures into this, but in general a stem is like a track in a DAW, say, vocals, or guitars. By releasing the stems independently of the finished product, users can make their own music at will. It's essentially a kind of open source music making. How or why the blockchain is actually invoked I don't know. More like Libre music with viral attribution? The only thing that springs to mind is a way to track a kind of "forking network" or provenance of which sources made which end products. If you make a remix of a source, that remix can be added and the provenance is recorded. Others can then remix yours and that chain of provenance is kept. At any rate, this is early days, expect better reports and better explanations to appear on HN over the next few weeks. Thought I'd share it now though. Theres hardly any information about this currently.
