It's laudable to keep old hardware in service, but there are a lot of serious security issues with such old versions of the browsers. If that machine is your only option, I personally would install Ubuntu on it, which would get you current versions of Firefox and Chrome (but of course wouldn't run OSX apps you may depend on).
