They murdered untold thousands of people and ruined millions of lives. They are criminals and should be treated as such. Basic justice is not 'vengeance', it's simple justice. Also there is no deterrent for future criminals. There is no dissuading jail time; our society just says, hey can you ruin some lives and make some money? You'll get to stay rich and out of jail! It's not sustainable - future criminals will see the royal treatment that the Sacklers' got and be unworried about hurting more people while they get richer.
