  I've been using Apple hardware for so long now and have been a huge fan. They killed almost all the goodwill they had with me. I no longer trust them, and since their operating systems are closed source, trust is critical. This has been a wake up call. If it's not open source, I don't know what's happening on my devices.

    Same here. I installed arch on my x86 MBP and I’m honestly shocked how smooth it went and how well it runs. Definitely a good time to get back to open source desktop experiences (after ~17 years for me). Now I’m waiting to do the same thing with my M1 MBP which is still on Big Sur for now (Asahi linux looking very promising though!).
