"Write smartly" is normal to me as a speaker of British English. That's not to say the alternative shouldn't be preferred though.

- anigbrowl 5y agoBritish people dress smartly and often act smartly but I've never heard anyone say a a book was written smartly, if you see what I mean.
- Sparrowhawk21 5y agoThey'd probably say "smartly written". But of course that wasn't the original phrase. My point was solely that it's not strange to us.
