You don't have to hand your license over when a store asks to scan it.
Whenever I have purchased something that is age restricted, I have just held my license and held on to it, and not let them scan it.
The insecurity of the POS systems means I don't trust them to not store that data and let it be leaked/stolen.
- fletchowns 5y agoBars, nightclubs, and music venues scan ids all the time at the door. Sure you don't have to hand it over, but then you are not getting in.
- ArchOversight 5y agoI've never had an issue with just showing them the ID, but not letting them scan it.
