Nice article, but not really over engineered.
More, spent money on a bunch of gear and installed PiHole!
I did the same though LOL
However, in the spirit of his comments about Outsourcing to The Experts, I switched from PiHole to AdGuard Home to NextDNS.
Very happy with NDNS, just wish there was a kill switch!
I'm up around 50 devices on my home network, so the standard home router from the ISP, or even the fancy 'gaming routers' that look like alien spiders don't really cut it!
I get terrible internet where I am in Australia, so I have to be creative:
----------
My Setup:
----------
• 3x Unifi UAPs
• 1x USG Pro
• 1x USW 16 POE
• 2x 4G modems
Connected to the USG Pro and load balanced!
You can't LB with a UDM!
•1x M1 Mac mini with 12TB RAID as a TMS and Content Cache!
Serves around ~500GB a month to my network!
