I love the first chapter of Snow Crash, it brilliantly establishes the world, the tone and (the) Protagonist. There’s a breathless pacing that makes it incredibly fun to read aloud. The rest I can do without.
- runevault 5y agoIMO you could teach an entire semester long course on world building, pacing, prose, etc of an opening just on the first chapter of Snow Crash. And some people are not into the language stuff and the like. I can understand how it would miss a lot of people. I found it strangely engaging.
