- jollybean 5y agoPlease let's not kid ourselves. Propaganda will work on most populations. Somewhat better in places where literacy is low, but it can absolutely take hold anywhere. There are useful idiots in every population ready to tattoo themselves with some thing either political, ideological, or even commercial. Populations are not good at context - we take some tiny, possibly insignificant effect, like the utterance of a leader etc. and make all sorts of giant assumptions about it. Sometimes the issue is serious but we still contextualize it. We also tend to ignore major material issues unless someone is creating a fuss and making a narrative about it.
