What do you make of academia’s complete embrace of Twitter?

  Just an anecdote, but on Friday I posted a tweet about a research paper we did jointly with University. Both the main researcher (post-doc) and the professor we cooperated with do not have twitter accounts. Is there a stat somewhere about how many academics use twitter?
