If you solve problems that deal with a lot of data, or make a lot of calculations, you'll probably care about big O. Last time I really had to consider big O in a web app was 2009. Of course, it had nothing to do with the fact that it was a web app and not desktop or otherwise. It had everything to do with the problem I was trying to solve.
