- n42 5y agoThis article is pretty condescending towards startup engineers. There’s a lot more to scope of responsibility than the number of users your decisions will impact. As a founding engineer you have the success of the entire business on your shoulders. Fuck up and your coworkers are out of a job. Small companies pay less because they have less capital. Titles change because different sized organizations require different org structures and your title probably won’t map 1:1. It’s pretty simple.
