I am using Nextcloud and Obsidian for my company. My collegues (with no background in IT) use Obsidian to work with projects, the knowledge base and personal note taking. They sync the Obsidian vault with Nextcloud. I use Nextcloud calendar to subscribe to many calendars (.ics). On my phone I've setup the CalDav connection to Nextcloud and all calenders even the subscribed are available. That is just amazing!

Does syncing Obsidian to Nextcloud mean you don't need a subscription to Obsidian? Haven't really dug into what they're offering.

Yes. Obsidian stores everything in plain text file and its config in the .obsidian folder. You can sync this folder to anywhere. Only problem that occurs occasionally is when two people work on the same file. This will result in sync conflict. Exception is if you work in the Nextcloud UI collaboratively, but Nextcloud does not support wiki links [[ ]] and uses its own linking format (appens file id to any link). I also git commit my personal vault and use working copy to sync with my phone. On my phone the Obsidian repo is synced with the local Obsidian app folder. This is more complicated to setup. But it works. Moreover my personal vault also contains git submodules. So I can stitch many Obsidian vaults into one (and make a big mess).

I had post pending regarding the mobile sync with Working Copy. You gave me a reason to finish it up: https://janikvonrotz.ch/2021/08/31/sync-obsidian-mobile-app-with-working-copy-git-repo/ https://janikvonrotz.ch/2021/08/31/sync-obsidian-mobile-app-...

You've made my day! This is awesome! Loving Obsidian, importing my existing notes was so easy.
