Few people have the luxury of doing what they love.
I used to love programming. But now, I love germinating interesting seeds more. Getting my hands into the soil. Recently I bought some potting soil from a store and put my hand it it -- wow! It was so soft and pure and beautiful.
But I can't do that for a living, maybe not now, maybe when I retire from coding and saved up enough money to live the rest of my life.
- foxfluff 5y agoI'd like try germinating, do you know a good guide for this? What kind of equipment do you need? Can you grow an apple tree at home?
- pelagic_sky 5y agoSomeone can correct me if I am wrong, but I believe all apple trees (that are editable) are grown from scions. Which is a graft of the variety of apple you want onto a root stock. I've grown a few of them in pots and transferred them to the soil.
- eric4smith 5y agoYou csn grow apples (and all other fruit) that are edible from seeds. It’s just that the quality is not as consistent as cloning.
- eric4smith 5y agoAhhh I just follow YouTube and blog posts. Actually universities that specialize in farming and agriculture have some of the best resources on cloning, germinating and farming you could imagine. A few professors even have YouTube channels too. Awesome shit out there.
