The authoritarianism, tribalism and suspension of human decency and basic liberties that we've seen happen with Covid has been long coming. I've argued before that the world was already primed to move towards the authoritarian corporate technocracy that we're seeing now, and covid was just the push it needed. I agree with the author, this had been a long time coming, the byproduct of the "self-actualization" step in the needs hierarchy. And like him, unfortunately I have no idea how to stop it.
