Micro Investment Plan – $20k
I'm planning to invest $20k.
There are two options in my mind right now.
1. Invest into early-stage SAAS businesses.
2. Hire a team to build my project ideas
Do you have other options?
- codegeek 5y agoWhat is your Goal ? do you only want to invest in/build companies ?
- mddanishyusuf 5y agoInvest in good companies.
- stevekemp 5y agoSo your goal is to invest in good companies? OR is that just the implementation for your real goal of "Make money?". Because when it comes to startups most fail. Just like most businesses generally fail. If your actual goal is to make money then this form of investment might not be the most lucrative. Of course if your goal really is invest in "good companies" you'll need to be more specific. Good in the altruistic sense? Good in the potential for return? Good in the sense that the people are good?
- kyawzazaw 5y agoWhat is good companies? What do you want in return and when do you want that return?
- dyeje 5y ago$20k is a bit low to get into angel investing. For that budget, would look for Eastern European or South American dev shops. Consider index funds, stocks, and crypto. Best of luck.
- jstx1 5y ago$20k is on the low side for what you're trying to do - good chance it will run out as you're just getting started. On average both of these options work out to basically burning $20k, maybe learning stuff along the way, maybe not. Which could be fine depending on your financial situation and risk tolerance. But don't do either if that's your only $20k. Certainly don't go into it with the expectations that you'll get a reliable return on the investment. Since you're asking about other options - you can always invest in stocks and other assets but it's hard to give advice about it without knowing your financial situation and goals.
- mddanishyusuf 5y agoThanks for your great thoughts and I really appreciate it. I’m more of thinking about hiring team to convert my ideas into mvps and launch.
- mihailpalelogu 5y agoI agree with jstx1. On your budget I would recommend finding other avenues for building MVPS depending on the nature of your projects. Is it a concept that you can test with a simple landing page to see if anyone is clicking on your call-to-action? Is it something you can pre-order and build within a few weeks with revenue from pre-orders? Does your product intend to do something that you can do manually at first? When I think that Airbnb's MVP was a page with a phone number and a catalog I don't see any justification for spending more than 100$ on any MVP.
- sebst 5y agoDepending on where you live, you can get away with your cost of living expenses quite a while. So, why not take a time off, invest in your tech skills and start building the project ideas on your own? Even if your ideas fail (which is quite likely - as for all startups), you still have a return on your investment in employability.
- mddanishyusuf 5y agoI live in India and I'm technical co-founder running a SAAS business nocodeapi.com Yes, I got lot's of feedback to invest on my own ideas. Thanks for the valuable feedback.
- francescopnpn 5y agoI told people to buy btc and decentraland here on HN 2 years ago and now you'd be up x100. now I'd tell you, trading NFTs should be your full time job
- mddanishyusuf 5y agoI'm running a SAAS business full time.
- himlion 5y agoYou would get negative feedback here, but I can now almost retire from a few months of trading NFTs :).
- berkeshire 5y agoYou could invest in US Tech Companies that you understand well via a brokerage firm - the FAANG list is one example. Or ETFs that cover the best tech companies. [Not an investment advice, markets are risky, losses are probable - you know the usual disclaimers]
