Ask HN: How should people get their news, given that online NYT is $221/year?

  multiple sources.

I find that HN/Twitter are a good place to know about most tech related news, and sometimes important mainstream news as well. My usual strategy is to be completely ignore all other sources. For local news, if something is important I usually end up knowing about it through friends/acquaintances.

Depends what kind of news you want, no? What is in the NYT that you want/need?

RT and CGTN, avoid all Western news outlets like NYT, BBC, Washington Post, Bloomberg, Reuters, AP, DW, etc.
