Today at work we just talked about the problem you‘re solving, funny to see this here.
We maintain a couple of importers for competitor data, most of which are DB dumps or collections of pdfs and images.
We‘d love to have it be somewhat self-serve at some point, but it‘s a difficult problem. It‘s also sensitive data which we don‘t want to handle outside our systems.
To give you a price point idea, we charge about 3k for an initial import, so about the same as we charge for a year of service.
- memset 5y agoThank you for this perspective. Other companies have told us similar things, and we're generally willing to be flexible to help accommodate a security checklist. One easy solution we've talked about with some customers is to ship a docker image which uses their own DB/infra to perform migrations, so that customer data isn't touching our servers.
