That represents an interesting twist in the story, but I don't seeing it affecting the conclusion - ARM has lost all control over their subsidiary (at least until the China judicial powers intervene). This couldn't have happened in a western country.

A legal technicality that the shareholders need to get the courts to address. But there are also technicalities in Western company laws that need judicial intervention, like dealing with directors acting against shareholders' interests in English company law.
