Why Windows 11 has such strict hardware requirements, according to Microsoft
- prirun 5y agoMaybe they're going to get into the hardware business. Back in the day they wouldn't, because they were already in trouble for their software monopoly. But today is a different story. It would be hard to argue that MS couldn't get into the hardware business for monopoly reasons, when Apple has been doing it for years.
- ksaj 5y agoIt's not very different from Apple's strictness when it comes to hardware. Apple doesn't try to support everything that exists, or to be backward compatible with everything that used to. Linux succeeds in this area because of the number of peoples' interest in having those features and are able to code them. It looks to me like Microsoft has been taking notes and feel they've found a sweet spot.
