The one thing I really would love in an office is a bar to hang from.
Not to do pull-ups or anything, just to decompress the spine.
It's the one thing I am extremely glad to have in my home office. Walking over to it, hanging for 30s once in a while, really fulfills that need for both getting mentally unstuck from problems and changing posture.
- rgrmrts 5y agoAgreed! I herniated my disc (L5-S1) last year and it’s been a long road to recovery. Unfortunately I’m still in pain but I installed a pull up bar in the door to my home office and hang on it every time I walk through. It’s definitely helpful.
- cafard 5y agoForty years ago, I worked down the hall from a small public-interest law office. The director was a running enthusiast, and to the best of my recollection he did have such a bar. His office was littered with running shoes in various states of wear.
- sc00ty 5y agoThis has piqued my interest, what's your setup like? Is your entire body extended while hanging or do you need to curl your legs to not hit the ground?
- ThePadawan 5y agoI have a pull up bar in a normal door frame, so it's really not high enough to completely dangle from. I chose to bring my legs and feet to 90 degrees behind me, since I find it easiest. Given that, you have the choice between grip and passive or active hangs, all of which have advantages and disadvantages.
