Looks to me like a view/click difference might indicate that Facebook shows users Left content but they click on Right content instead.
- cratermoon 5y agoMore likely it's FB defining the terms "view" and a "click" to mean what they want them to mean, and measuring them in whatever obtuse way they measure them, to obscure the data and confound any real attempt to draw any meanings from them.
- janto 5y agoI don't think it's more likely. The accusation seems to be that Facebook emphasizes views and not clicks (according to typical definitions) to paint a specific picture. I wouldn't put anything past Facebook, but this is actually painting a picture of the users that is more interesting and opposite than the author wants to admit. Users seem to preferentially click on specific content even though Facebook is showing them a different distribution. I haven't seen the data myself, but this does not sound like a recommendation echo-chamber...
