Like the author, I am spending way too much time getting lineage to work on my phone while trying to run an ecosystem of self hosted services for my community that fewer and fewer folks seem to want, even as they complain about the role of big tech in their lives and culture. I really appreciate the sense of maybe-I'm-not-totally-alone that your post conveys. Maybe the author would as well? "There are literally dozens of us".
