Using color to describe information ranges is an excellent way to add a passive dimension of information, and allow people to screen out inferior choices. "Dimming" the entire screen on a choice change is extremely visually distracting. A small spinner on the data sheet would be an excellent indicator that "this data is about to change". Excellent tool, I'm going to play around with it tonight.
