(Created a throwaway because I don't want my employer to somehow notice that I'm retiring in ~a year) This thread is highly reassuring to me. I spent six months traveling around SEA in 2014 on ~$1k/month. It was pretty easy to stick to that budget even with the cost of moving around. Seven years later, I had mostly assumed that a $1k/month existence was hard to come by unless you are willing to live in relative poverty - apparently that is not the case. Hopefully inflation and the post-pandemic travel boom do not change this much.
