Ask HN: What are your top 5 favorite computer books?
I'm looking to expand my book collection and I'd like to know what this community is reading related to computers.
- rovr138 5y agoI like Jeff Geerling's books, - Ansible for DevOps - Ansible for Kubernetes And something still computer related, but not as much tech related, The Cuckoo's Egg.
- _benj 5y ago- The Unicorn Project - The Phoenix Project - Clean Code - The Linux Programming Interface - Digital Design and Computer Architecture: ARM Edition - The Art of Electronics 3rd Edition
- dave_sid 5y agoI’m glad Clean Code is still up there. Feels like it’s not considered cool to like it any more.
- countmora 5y agoIs there any alternative to Clean Code? Can’t wrap my head around why it should not be considered one of the books you have to read.
- 100011_100001 5y agoOne look at his actual code examples unfortunately... :(
- tcbasche 5y ago"The Pragmatic Programmer" is a great alternative. It mixes real-world expectations with sensible craftsmanship. Clean Code is fine, I just think it's more aimed at inexperienced developers.
- bwh2 5y agoAs a hobby I post my software engineering book notes online, adding 1-2 books each week: https://www.briansnotes.io/books/?sort=rating https://www.briansnotes.io/books/?sort=rating
