I quit today, it was a long time coming. I love my work, but feel impacted by my boss and manager and don't want to do it for them anymore. I wish I was able to communicate my issues and work it out with them, but they ignored an email to talk and didn't show up to my annual review.
I realized that I was allowing myself to be trapped in an unhappy situation. I complain about work a lot, and I'm tired of this being my daily experience. I want to go back to designing and building quality software for people who care.
I think it's hard to go through quitting because I feel like I failed to push through the barriers and couldn't achieve what I needed to thrive. I want to learn from my mistakes and improve my ability to establish better relationships and communicate expectations. I kept thinking I needed to do that where I was, but now I know I need to be in a more supportive environment to grow.
I have been wanting to do my own thing for a long time. I have ideas for offering tech training and finding my own clients. I believe that people are most creative and productive when they are happy and have healthy relationships with the people around them. I want to try building a business that treats people this way, while guiding them in developing valuable skills and progressing in their career.
