I interpreted it as "Principal level engineers only". Clarification would be helpful.

  To contrast, I've seen this often enough that I knew immediately that they meant, don't try to send us blinded candidates and claim a finder's fee. But perhaps just adding ", no recruiters" would be enough to clarify.
