  That would be wonderful, but I'd have to convince my friends and neighbors to do the same or I'll be lonely and bored instead of just lonely.

  On a family and individual level I think we already do this? Just more often than twice a year, and without relying on a group of elders. Now ultimately I can't be fully informed on every gory detail, so I do outsource to some companies and brands. Sadly many prove they can't be trusted indefinitely (cough co -mingling cough). The ideal probably varies for everyone. Though I think most are better off without relying on appeals to authority and patriarchy, no matter how experimental or well meaning they may be.
