In Kids, the Risk of Covid-19 and the Flu Are Similar – Risk Perception Isn't
- nikolay 5y agoThis is from May 2021, i.e. predates Delta.
- derbOac 5y agowhich makes this quote all the more ominous: "HARRIS: The risk is continuing to go down, however, as COVID rates fall, and soon this whole question will be turned on its head." So much of this could have been predicted with some modicum of respect for evolutionary biology. It's still being ignored rather than being included as part of the decision making.
- nikolay 5y agoAbsolutely! The whole handling of this pandemic is populist and political, not science and evidence based!
- angelzen 5y agoIs there data to quantify how much more dangerous Delta is compared with Alpha, by age group? What we know so far is that Alpha is less dangerous for <18s than the flu. Could well be that Delta is worse than Alpha, while still less dangerous than the flu.
- 650 5y agoMy understanding is delta is more contagious, but with the same amount of 'lethality'.
- nikolay 5y agoMore contagious with the same relative lethality still leads to more dead and injured.
