This "article" is an amazing stretch, but I have shared Carmack's sentiment myself for many years. Although I finally just gave up and paid for the MCU upgrade, it always bothered me that (eMMC issue aside) Tesla couldn't get a Tegra 2 to run a slippy map and a music player without eating dirt. The Intel MCU hardware also frequently lags and stutters and locks up for a long time doing certain things like showing the car manual or browser. Tesla owners need to stop giving the company a pass on their poor performing UI. Now you know why they really have a "gaming pc" in there!
